Whether it's clubs, acoustic guitars, or folk-dance nights; bright lights or underground bars, you should find something to suit in Budapest tonight.

Eastern Promises (Film)

Muvesz, 13:15, 15:15, 17:15, 20:00, 22:00 until 18th March
Teréz körút 30 [map]
Pest, VI, Teréz körút (T4/6), 1 min

David Cronenberg delves into the London underworld of Chechens, Russians and midwifery. Pretty violent at times, especially at bathtime. But what is that little thing Nikolai keeps playing with? (Reviews here, trailer here.)

Táncház (Folk dance)

If your image of a táncház is old fogies in a stuffy community centre, Gödör may surprise you. The clientele is the same as you might find in any other bar or club. Sure, there may be more leaping and slapping and twirling around but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Bivaly Zenekar and Csürrentö supply the happening folk with some happening folk.

BreakBeatMassive (Club)

Mono Electroniclub, 13th March, Free
Ó utca 51 [map]

The name should give you a clue. Tech up your dance-life with breaks, techno and house from the resident nubeatz boutique and a couple of guest DJs.

Michael Kentish (Acoustic Set)

Treehugger Dan's II, 13th March, 19:00, Free

Lazar u. 16 [map]
Pest Centre, VI, Opera (M1), 1 min / Oktogon (T4/6), 3 min

Since arriving in Budapest in 2000, Michael Kentish has been involved with a number of musicians, and he currently accounts for a third of the Random Chocolates. Where the others have got to, no one knows but Michael will be turning to his acoustic guitar for accompaniment in the intimate environs of Treehugger Dan's lounge.

My Beautiful Laundrette (Film)

Örökmozgó, 18:30, 13th March
Erzsébet krt. 39 [map]
Pest Centre, VII, Király utca (T4/6), 3 min

Classic British film scripted by Hanif Kureishi, about a
unlikely romance between a young Asian man and his former classmate. Twenty-four years on this film hold up pretty well, with strong performances, a hopeful message, and more than a little wry humour.

AC/DC (Light Show)

LézerSzínház, 13th March, 19.30
2290 HUF/adult; 600 HUF/child
Planetárium, Népliget
Népliget

Yes, AC/DC, I think you heard me right. An AC/DC CD, in fact. This kind of show is unlikely to be around for much longer, but in 1980 it must have seemed like the height of modernity. It's amazing what you can do with two dozen projectors, a few computers, a couple of watercooled gas-lasers, a prism or two, hundreds of mirrors and... a CD player.
