20/03/08

It doesn't really feel like it but the winter is breathing its last breath today. So either mourn or celebrate but for goodness sake, don't do it at home.

La Chambre Blanche (Dance Theatre)

(students: 1700Ft)
Liliom utca 41 [map]
Pest, IX
, Ferenc körút (M3), 3 min
Tel. 061 456 2040

Tenderness and tension are the White Room's uncomfortable bed partners in this reworking of the 1992 original. Liberation and confinement, intimacy and loneliness also come to the party. What else would you expect from Canadian dance company O Vertigo?

Sayag Jazz Machine + DJ Sonja Moonear (Concert/Club)

It's a Jazz machine with more cogs than most! Double bass, saxophone, flute, violin and trumpet link in with samples, scratching, and video-jockeying. "Do you use your sanity to listen to music?", asks Swiss DJ Sonja Moonear, before embarking on the kind of insanity you might hear on the moon.

Wandering in the Garden of Remembrance (Exhibition)

Bank Center Gallery, 20th March, 18:00, free
Szabadság tér 7, [map]
Pest, V, Arany János u(M3), 2 min

Adam Balogh has wandered back from Iran to share his memories in an exhibition of photos and paintings. How else do you intend to celebrate the Persian New Year and Vernal Equinox with His Excellency, the ambassador for Iran? Take a (slow) sneaky peek here.

Horton Hears A Who! (Film)

MOM Park, all week,14:00, 16:00

Alkotás u. 53 [map]
Buda, XII, Csörsz u.(T61), 1 min

After the atrocious Cat in the Hat, you might be sceptical about seeing another screen adaptation of a Dr. Seuss book, but reviews of Horton... have been largely positive. MOM Park may be a bit creepy but it's the only cinema in Budapest where you can close your eyes and hear the voice of the beautiful but diminutive Isla Fisher. (i.e. English audio.)

Cabaret Medrano (Concert)

Cökxpôn, 7th March, 500 ft, 21:00

Soroksári út 8-10 [map]
Pest South, IX, Boráros tér (T4/6), 4 min

Cabaret Medrano needs you! Berlin Cabaret meets Balkan rhythms dancing a Tango with Tom Waits in a Parisian Cafe. What? In other words, they're a wry old time. Check them here.
