31/03/08

Today is the shadow of tomorrow. Today is the present future of yesterday. Yesterday is the shadow of today. The darkness of the past is yesterday and the light of the past is yesterday. The days of yesterday are all numbered in sum. In the world once. Because once upon a time there was a yesterday.

The Navigator (Film)

Nyitott Műhely, 31st March, 19:00
Ráth György u. 2. [map]
Buda, XII, Déli pályaudvar(M2), 3 min

Buster Keaton and Kathryn McGuire play two toffs stranded on an ocean liner in this silent comedy. One of Keaton's very best - for one night only there'll be live piano accompaniment from Darvas Ferenc.

Filter Club, 31st March, from 20:00, Free
Almássy utca 1 [map]
Pest, VII, Blaha Lujza tér (M2, T4/6), 5 min
Just when you thought all the good band names were gone, along comes something like Digger and the Pussycats. Can Pussycats play guitars? Or are these Josie's Pussycats, slumming it in Budapest? God knows. All may (or may not) be revealed at Filter's Garage Monday.

The Assassination of Jesse James... (Film)
Uránia, 31st March, 15:30

...by the Coward Robert Ford! What a long title! We had to chop it in half! At 160 minutes, this sedate Western is a long film too, but it's picked up some good reviews and looks to be a cut above the usual Brad Pitt dross-fest.

Szilvási Gipsy Folk Band (Concert)

Corvintető, 31st March, 600 ft
Corvin Áruház, Blaha Lujza tér 1-2 [map]
Pest Centre, VIII, Blaha Lujza tér (M2, T4/6), 1 min

With their Oláh gipsy/latin/balkan combination, these guys are undeniably fun - just check out "My dog's leg hurts" for proof. The last album was called "Folklore beats you up" but don't fight it, feel it.
