The weekend in Budapest starts on a Thursday and ends on a Wednesday. So for the first day of the weekend, you'd better find yourself something to do...

Be Kind Rewind (Film)

Palace Westend, 12:30, 14:45, 17:00,
19:15, 21:30, all week
[map]
Pest, XIII, (M3, T4,6 5 min).

On paper, Michel Gondry's latest sounds great - the story of two video store employees who accidentally erase their entire collection, then film home movies to replace them. The Guardian called it 'funny and entertaining', but the Observer's Phillip French was less than impressed. 'A sentimental whimsical embarrassment', he moaned. Reviews here.

Also worth checking out...

Away From Her (Film)

Örökmozgó, 23rd October, 20:30
A brilliant film, that deals with Alzheimer's disease - Julie Christie gives a superb performance. It's recent, but I can't remember Away From Her getting much of a release in Hungary. Reviews here.

Takats Eszter es a GumiZsuzsi (Folk dance)
Gödör, 23rd October, from 21:00, free
No more films. Stop listing films Andrew. Okay, so this isn't a film. Alternative pop from Pecs. Myspace here.

Lick the Click! (Club)
MonoElectronic Club, 23rd October, from 22:00
A good club, that's easy to forget about. If you don't find techno and house a little bit boring, then Mono might be the best place to celebrate the fact you don't have to work tomorrow. Myspace here.
