Tuesday afternoon, I'm just beginning to see; Now I'm on my way, it doesn't matter to me; chasing the clouds away. Don't make it a Moody Blue Tuesday, get into town for...

Balázs Elemér Group (Concert)

Nyitott Műhely, 2nd December, 19:30, 1200Ft
Ráth György utca 4

For a group to be named after the drummer, the drummer's got to be pretty good. Pat Metheny, for one, thinks that Balázs Elemér is about the best there is. With some really distinctive vocals from Gábor Winand and Hajdu Klára, the jazz trickles like a mountain stream over smooth pebbles of Hungarian Folk, Renaissance and Baroque. Liquid Jazz.

Or how about...?

Bernard Maseli (Concert)
Millenáris [map] 2nd December, 21:00, 1500Ft (adv.) 2000Ft (door)
How often do you get to see a Polish vibraphonist in Budapest? Bernard Maseli's funky jazz
has an air of Stevie Wonder about it. Check him out here. Support from Raphael Wressnig, who's also got the f-f-funk.
Babám/Mantra Porno (Concert)
Gödör, 2nd December, from 21.00, free
Babám's music is by no means as explosive as their name suggests. It's quite pretty though, sometimes in English, sometimes Hungarian
. Mantra Porno, on the other hand, like monkeys. Check out one of their videos for proof. They can get pretty poppy at times, Massive Attack-like or psyche-funkey-dopey at others.

MC Black Spawn (Concert)
Serpa, 2nd December, free
Hungarian hip-hop conquered the world last year thanks to Speak the Hungarian rapper ('yeah... come on... business... don't make war any more' etc). But wheres the next big thing going to come from? Here?
