10/12/08

Today's the day that Winnie The Pooh would call 'Winds-day', others might call it 'hump day'. Regardless of the moniker you attach to it, it's the middle of the week and it's Wednesday, go have some fun.

Kispal és a borz (Concert)

Dürer Kert, 10th December, 20:30, 2700ft.
Ajtósi Dürer sor 19–21 [map]
Zichy Geza utca, (Trolley 74)

With 20 years behind them, Little Paul and the Badger are Hungary's answer to... Weezer? Maybe not, well not even close, but hey, there's not much else going on tonight. If a band can command a near 3000 cover at Dürer, then they must be doing something right and have a fan base to boot. This is your chance to check out a Hungarian Alternative band if ever such a thing tickled your fancy before.

Their MySpace here.

Also worth a gander...

AltF4 (Concert)
After Music Club, 10th December, 21:00, free
If you want to see a guitar band tonight, in an intimate venue, you could do worse than not-the-first-band-to-be-called AltF4 (useful for dealing with pop-ups). They list Tool, Manu Chao, Chilli Peppers and Queens of the Stone Age as influences: more the latter pair than the former, I would say. Check out their snazzy website here or MySpace here.

Budapest Christmas Fair
Vörösmarty tér [map], 10th December, 10:00-20:00, free
Not in the mood for the gospel concert above to put you in a Christmas mood? Well maybe Budapest's 10th Annual Christmas Fair will get you. Go, fill up on lángos, grab a forralt bor (mulled wine), and smell the scents of Christmas. There's plenty of chances to snag some Hungarian gifts, as well as to take part in arts and crafts time. Take a waltz around the Christmas tree and see if you can spot the real St. Nick, even though he's already visited the Hungarian kiddies at this point.

Syrup Club (Club)
Dürer Kert, 10th December, 20:30
Sure Dürer might be a bit of a hike, it being all the way out by City Park and all, but if neo-rave, electric-acid is your thing, it's well worth the trollybus ride. Actually, Dürer is really worth checking out. DJ sets from Mesterházy, Gordon, and Atomik. More info here.
