Camera Obscura - Contemporary Darkrooms

Mai Manó Ház, until 4th January 2009
14-19h (week); 11-19h (w/e), FREE
Nagymezõ utca 20

The Hungarian House of Photography has put together a contest that asked applicants to explore one of the most archaic, but still widely used methods of photography - the pinhole camera. The results are blurry, yet beautiful photographs. Winning work from unknown to burgeoning artists is on display. The exhibition also traces back to the origins of the camera obscura. Be sure to check out the room-sized camera obscura just a few steps away from Mai Manó.

"I would no more go to an exhibition of dead bodies than I would eat a live one", said Germaine Greer, although she was probably trying to cover for the fact that she does eat them. The Catholic Church wasn't too keen either. But you may find that your squeamishness is overcome by the fascination of having the most realistic - real, in fact - insight into what's going on inside you that you'll ever see.
