Pálinka Fesztival (Festival)
Városháza Park, 7th May, from 20:001500Ft including tasting glass and 500Ft voucher
Városháza Park, Déak tér [map]
Pest Centre, VI, Deák tér (M1/2/3), 1 min
Confusing pálinka with schnapps, is like confusing Bollingers with Asti Spumante. You might be inclined to hold your own pálinka festival in one of the nearby bars but moving from stall to stall, choosing the ones with the strangest names or with unidentifiable floating fruit does have a charm that it's hard to find elsewhere. Plus, there's live folk music: tonight is "Hot Jazz Band" at 20:00. Official site here. (Take your own glass for a better deal.)

Squat Squat Squat (Art Opening)
Boulevard & Brezsnyev Galéria [map], 20:00-22:00, free
A group show from the artists at the collective/compound, Tűzraktér, which is just down the street from this gallery. One of the last shows here was dildo themed, so this one could either be about the stuff you do while squatting to drop a deuce, or maybe about abandoned spaces. Worth taking a chance...
AIR - International Artists in Residencies (Art Opening)
Ferencvarosi Gallery [map], 18:00, free
Tonight seems to be the night of group exhibitions. This one celebrates the abilities of artists to create work across cultural and spacial boundaries. It's a chance to see what young artists on their residencies have created, and also a chance to conceivably pick up some fairly cheap art from around the world (but mostly North America) if you feel so inclined. There'll probably be free drinks too! On 'til the 29th of May. More info and list of artists here.
Auxes vs. Challenger (Concert)
Sirály, 22:00
As of late Sirály's been the place for the American underground in Budapest. Tonight sees the molding of two bands into one – Auxes vs. Challenger, probably sans boxing gloves though. Think Jade Tree punk meets the Jesus Lizard and Young Widows. Also on the bill is California's sBach, not the Sebastian Bach of Skid Row, these guys sound like Nintendo freaks who ate too many pixie sticks and found a drum kit.
