Monday is international 5/18 day, which honors the time tested fraction which served both the likes of Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton in their research in relativity theory and the discovery of gravity, respectfully. And respectfully it should be honored at one of these... _________________________________________
Roy and Ádám (Concert)
Zöld Pardon, 18th May, from 20:00Goldmann György tér 6 [map]
Buda, XI, Petőfi híd (Budai hídfő) (T4/6), 2 min
Roy and Adam, still riding the wave of their sold out 10 year anniversary tour (you did it, guys!), headline programming tonight at ZP. Though billed as a serious evening of rock, expect more of a feel-good Hungarian pop that treads lightly over anything resembling 'serious'. Perhaps that explains their recent cover of Madonna's single, 'Music'. But head over to Buda to check them out for yourself. 1500 concerts across the mother land isn't nothing.
Take a listen here.
Take a chance on...
Papa and Hudak (Concert)
Cökxpôn, Free
ElektroKlub features Papa and Hudak in the kávézó until evening spills into night. Check it out.
Balance and Fonetik (Concert)
Holdudvar [map]
If some tunes under the light of Margit Sziget's most hopping (and overpriced) open-air bar is up your alley, head to Holdudvar for their 'Cafe Lounge' night.
Man on Wire (Film)
Toldi, 17:15, 19:00, 20:45
"If I die, what a beautiful death." In 1974, Frenchman, Philippe Petit achieved what nowadays is literally impossible: walking a high wire suspended between the World Trade Centre's twin towers. James Marsh's docu-heist movie has also achieved the near impossible: universal acclaim, including an Oscar and a Bafta.
Táncház (Dance)
Könyvtár Klub, [map] 21:00, free
Ever wondered where Budapest's university students hang out on Monday nights? The Könyvtár Klub, hidden within ELTE's Astoria campus, is one of the lesser known but more underrated spots. Come prepared to bust some moves.
