Celebrate the 1434th anniversary of the only Hungarian pope, Pope Benedict I. What do you mean there's never been a Hungarian pope? Well, who's this then?

Balaton Klub (Concert)

Gödör, 2nd June, 20.00, free

The moniker's pretty misleading. Balaton Klub isn't the awful holiday resort "slags and wankers" night you might imagine. Forming in 1979, Balaton were part of the first wave (ripple) of alternative bands in Hungary. Singer/songwriter Víg Mihály has also soundtracked several Béla Tarr films, cementing his place in the counterculture (what there is of it.)

Support comes from the decent alt. rock band Pluto.
Clubbin' it ain't. Free it is.
