The weekend in Budapest starts on a Thursday and ends on a Wednesday. So for the first day of the weekend, you'd better find yourself something to do...

Pálfi Bözske és a Lóvé Banda (Concert)

A38 2nd July, 22:00, 1200Ft
Petőfi hid [map]
Buda, XI, Petőfi híd (Budai hídfő) (T4/6), 2 min

Such is their popularity, Péterfy Bori és a Love Band take on a pseudonym for tonight's show that no one could possibly decipher. It must be so frustrating having so many fans!

Well-known as an actress at the Krétakör Theatre and indeed, in the films of a certain Szőke András, Bori is something of a darling of the arts world. Poppy but happily off the wall at times. The Blondie of the East, perhaps.

Support from Zombie Disco Squad.

Take a chance on...

AM Festival
Gödör, 20:00, free
Don't be fooled by the name: it starts in the evening. The Hungarian Bob Dylan, Bródy János, the ludicrously titled Vidámpark, self-professed ska-funk-pork-'n'-rollers, Malacka és a tahó (Piglet and the beast) and Korai Öröm ensure value for money.

Vodku (Concert)
Pótkulcs 21:00, free
Folk music; folk rock; but not like Steeleye Span. Check them out here.

Sacreo Flamenco / Kiende (Concert)
Treffort Kert (Outside Könyvtár Klub) [map], 18:00
Break out the frilly skirts and the castanets; it's Flamenco time! Or... relax to Kiende's quite lovely, haunting folk music. Myspace here.
