23/08/09

All was quiet on the morning of 23rd August 79AD, the feast day of Vulcan, god of fire... then something began to stir... This was the day when Mount Vesuvius erupted and engulfed the city of Pompeii with volcanic ash. Also hoping to make a big bang today are...

Aiming for Sunday (Concert)
Zöld Pardon, 23rd August, 19:00
Goldmann György tér 6 [map]
Buda, XI, Petőfi híd (Budai hídfő) (T4/6), 2 min

Expat, Brit-rock band Aiming for Sunday finally made it to Sunday so presumably now require a new name... Sounding a little like Coldplay wannabes, their slick, laid-back style of soft-rock has attracted an impressive collection of fans amongst both expats and Hungarians. Also on the bill will be Irish soft-rock phenomenan Jamie Winchester.

Also worth a gander...

Tilos on Board! (Concert)

A38 Roof Terrace, 21:00, 500Ft, includes drink
The Kéknyúl Hammond Quartet entertain us with, you guessed it, a Hammond Organ! Sounds of the seventies are promised, along with jazz, hip-hop and soul, ably assisted by DJ Gandarvha & von Yodi.

Sunday Summer Session - Featuring: Cadik (DJs)
Gödör, 21:00, Free
"All the way from Detroit to Budapest," Cadik's spittin some pretty insane rhymes. I think I heard something about bringin' your George Foreman overseas and "gettin' the fuck outta Michigan." They've got my stamp of approval.

Crüxshadows (Concert)
Dürer Kert, 19:00, 3000 / 3500 ft
There's no expense spared, as Florida's goth-electronica band, Crüxshadows head to Budapest. With some interesting dance moves, as well as original music, this should be an entertaining evening, if a little pricey.
