22/09/09

The 22nd of September is the birthday of Anne of Cleves, Henry VIII's Hungarian born fourth wife, albeit only for 6 months. The marriage was never consummated and was annulled in 1540. Anne died at the age of 41 in 1557 having achieved nothing exciting at all. Don't be as boring, head out tonight...

Gravefruit, Malacka és a Tahó, Timur Lenk (Concert)

Gödör, 22nd September, 21:00

The prospect of Hungarian Reggae might not fill everyone's hearts with eager anticipation but actually Gravefruit are OK. Also appearing are Malacka és a Tahó, or Piglet and The Beast, with their aptly named 'ska funk pork n roll'. Yummy. They are what Madness might have been had they been completely off their trollies. Timur Lenk also appear.

Gravefruit MySpace here, more on piglet here, and Timur Lenk's incomprehensible website here.

Or how about...?

Irie Maffia Soundsystem (Club)
Corvinteto 21:00, free
Columbo, Juno and Dermot are in the house, plying their DJ trade. Myspace here. If you don't fancy it, the roof should still be open, so you can sit in the glorified carpark above the city until the sun comes up.

Street Jazz (Concert)

[map] 19:30
Should you want to spend an evening in a shopping centre, Groovy provide a rendition of what are promised to be the 'funniest and best known' jazz songs.

Robbie Williams Tribute (Concert)
Morrisons 2, [map] 20:30
Some people like Robbie Williams. They really do. I know at least one. Some people might like to watch someone pretending to be the fat dancer from Take That, especially when he is appearing at a venue that could well be the epitome of Hell on earth.
