11/10/09

After spending a week looking for the Loch Ness monster in Lake Balaton, a sonar exploration team failed to find the monster and gave up on 11th October 1987. Funny that...

Big Fat Chubby and the Swamp Busters (Concert)

Alcatraz, 11th October, 20:00, free
1072 Budapest, Nyár u. 1.

'Real trucker and swamp music from Hungary'. So what does that mean? Well it is apparently a mix of louisiana swamp blues, texas trucker country, early rockabilly, southern music and country-boogie. Still none the wiser? Think hungarians doing the cowboy thing, and doing it pretty well if country is your thing. They are pretty lively and will round off the weekend with a swing. Or a dosey doe.

Swamp Busting MySpace here. Chubby website here.

Also worth a gander...

Pálinka and Kolbász Festival (Festival)

Buda Castle, from 16:00, 1900ft
More Pálinka and sausage at the Castle, and a bit more music as well. Harmonia Garden, Kardos Dániel and Horváth Márk, Roots Kompakt, Palinka (appropriately), Colombre Band and Pál Utcai Fiúk all appear.

Madame(Concert)
Delírium, [map], 20:00, 500ft
Good luck finding Madame on MySpace, and even more luck if you wish to google 'Madame' and 'Budapest' in the same search. Apparently on this occasion Madame means Instrumental blues, rock, swing and Latin cabaret.

Freestyle Extranaganza (Club)

Gödör, 21:00, free
DJ Clairvo from MustBeat Crew provides the Sunday night toons.
