On this day in 1582, William Shakespeare married Transylvanian spinster Anne Hathaway. Shakespeare dedicated his life to providing entertainment for the masses and would surely have loved to be in Budapest tonight for...

Budapest Jazz Club, 28th September 2009, 21:00, 800 ft
Muzeum u. 7 [map]
Pest, VIII, Kálvin tér, (M3 or T47/49)
It's reggae night at the jazz club. If that isn't confusing enough, one of the bands apparently call themselves T-Rex Riders, despite clearly having no link to the original Marc Bolan band of 70s fame. Tonight's performers promise music with a more Caribbean flavour, which should actually be quite entertaining. The concept of Hungarian reggae might surprise you but actually these guys are quite good. Take a listen to T-Rex Riders here.

Also worth a gander...
Glenn Miller Orchestra (Concert)
Millenáris [map] 21:00, 9,900 ft
We are guessing that there are not many members of the original line-up in the current orchestra but the fact that they are still playing many of the same tunes which shot Miller to fame in the 1930s and have continued since his death in 1944, says a lot for the popularity of one of the greatest names in big-band jazz ever.
New Wine and Cheese Festival
Hungarian Museum of Agriculture, 10:00 - 18:00, 2,000 ft (includes tasting glass and entrance to museum)
This is Hungary's version of the Beaujolais race, with teams from various wineries racing to be the first to get their wine tasted at the festival. Visitors will also get the chance to vote for the best, after they have tasted them all. Let's just hope the wine is at least better than the average Hungarian cheeses... Official site (in Hungarian) here.
Crazy Monkeys (Concert)
Delírium, [map], 20:00, 500ft
The bizarre and, let's face it unexpected, sudden revival of Rockabilly in Budapest has spawned another trio of Hungarobilly bands. This time it's Crazy Monkeys, V8 and Crooked who grease themselves up for your entertainment. Don't forget your comb and hairspray.
