30/12/09

It is the night before new year's eve. Tomorrow night you will all be getting stupidly drunk, crying, snogging strangers and making resolutions you will never keep. Sounds great so why not have a practise run tonight...

The Walrus (Concert)

Fészek Művészklub, 30th December
Kertész u. 36
[map]
Pest Centre, VII, Király utca (T4/6), 3 min

The Walrus are big favourites here and undoubtedly Budapest's best indie band, who keep getting better and better with every gig.

The Walrus are playing plenty of gigs around Budapest as part of the launch for their new and impressive EP release. Their raw Indie-rock sound is at its best live and this latest show should add even more fans to their growing following. So we can certainly recommend this one very highly! See their MySpace here.

Also appearing will be another favourite, The Trousers. Their MySpace can be found here.

The concert will be followed by a DJ set from ViaBambi.

Also worth a try...

Independent Wednesday Night (Club)
Szimpla Kert, Free
What more info do you want about tonight's Indie night other than it's "by Kidd"? Who's Kidd? Well it's a beer bottle-with-a-nipple sippin' 12-year-old kid spinnin' records of course.

Zuboly (Concert)

A38, 21:00, 2,000ft, 1,500ft in advance
Zuboly is possibly the only band in the world to combine bagpipes with a human beat-box or two - and if you want to put them in a box, write "broken ethno" on it and everyone can go home happy. TheirSpace here. Also appearing will be Szabó Balázs Quintet, Toti és Peti and Suefo.

Balkan Beats - Czech Republic (Concert)
Gödör, 21:00, 1,000ft
Something different for a Wednesday at Gödör. Hungarian gypsy band Romano Drom appear, with the Czech part coming from Terne Chave. DJ Robert Soko from Berlin is back behind the decks followed by Dubstah Sound System and DJ Ramses Hoppa.
