10/2/08

Today is the shadow of tomorrow. Tomorrow is the the present future of yesterday. Yesterday is the shadow of today. The darkness of the past is yesterday and the light of the past is yesterday. The days of yesterday are all numbered in sum. In the world once. Because once upon a time there was a yesterday.

Paul Thomas Anderson's new film isn't actually on general release yet, but if you can't wait and you're willing to pay a bit extra, the VIP room at Cinema City is showing it all week. I've heard it's rather good.

Pest, XIII, (M3, T4/6), 2 min

Ben Affleck's directorial debut stars his brother Casey. It's about the search for a missing child, and surprisingly, was fairly well received in the States. It was. Honest. Swear to God.

Flea Market

Bolhapiac, Városliget, until lunchtime [map]
Pest, XIV, Széchenyi Fürdő, (M1) 5 min

Cheap junk, expensive junk, interesting junk, broken junk, working junk, puzzling junk... there's nowhere better for rubbish on a Sunday morning than the Bolhapiac, in the heart of the city park.

Luc Tuymans: Retrospective (Exhibition)

Műcsarnok, Until 10th Feb, 1200Ft

LAST CHANCE! Belgian, Luc Tuymans is not dead but this exhibition doesn't have too long to live. His works examine the limitations of painting itself, and hence, are somewhat philosophical. If you really like them, you could always buy one.

Városliget 10th Feb, 09.00 - 16.30, free entry
Városliget [map]
Pest, XIV, Hősök tere (M1), 5 min

I don't like the look of yours much! There's a cooking competition at 10 and live folk music from 11 onwards. Then people talk about hairy pigs, while the hairy pigs talk about whether they prefer the Hungarian folk of Berkó együttes to the folk-funk of Kerekes band. Only in Budapest!
