14/02/08

It's Valentine's Day and you've probably been given a wilting rose, a heart-shaped chocolate or, more-than-likely, nothing. Drown your sorrows or drag yourself out of the doldrums with...

If instrument juxtaposition is your thing, you can't go far wrong with tonight's paring. Zuboly are possibly the only band in the world to combine bagpipes with a human beat-box or two. Napra, meanwhile, fuse electric guitar with accordion and cimbalom. Is it folk, jazz or hip-hop? You decide.

Táncház (Folk dance)

The Hungarian folk revival continues with a night of leaping, thigh-slapping, calf-slapping, ankle-slapping, foot-slapping, couples whirling like dervishes and girls wailing like banshees. If you daren't dance, the music's worth hearing too.
