It's Saturday night, the Discovery channel is showing something dreary about paddy fields (a flooded parcel of land used for growing rice and other semi-aquatic crops), but there's no need to sit around watching that junk. Mahler: Das Lied von der Erde (Concert)

The Magyar Rádió Symphony Orchestra take on Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde, his vast work for two solo vocalists and orchestra. It's effectively his ninth symphony, a powerful fusion of song and symphonic writing. Paganini's Violin Concerto no.2 fills out the first half.

Video art in Hungary is barely 20 years old but the Ludwig museum has already amassed quite a collection. So this is a sort of 'best of' from the video vaults, mostly from the last decade. Laurie Anderson, Zbigniew Libera, Rónai Péter and Forgács Péter are among the artists featured.
