15/03/08

It's Saturday night, the Discovery channel is showing something dreary about mole-rats but there's no need to sit around watching that drivel. So why don't you turn off the TV, go out, and do something less boring instead?

Blamma! Your humdrum track remixed into a masterpiece! Blamma! Now they're in Budapest to help you rip the dancefloor into pieces and ram it into your ears until it sounds like

The Guardian called Jason Reitman's new teenage pregnancy comedy a happy pill. Worth seeing apparently, if only for the performance of Ellen Page - it's 'pure cinematic Prozac.' (Trailer here).

National Celebrations/Demonstrations/Riots

Pest Centre, the National Museum is the usual focus, 15th March

Remember, remember the 15th of March: 1848 and all that. And possibly 4th June 1920; a few people will be 'remembering' that too. Certainly there'll be plenty of people on the streets calling for Gyurcsány's head and asking politely if the neighbouring countries wouldn't mind returning the nicer parts of "Greater Hungary".

Duna Plaza, until 30th March, 10:00 - 19:00
Váci út 178, [map]
Pest, XIII, Gyöngyösi utca(M3), 1 min

Stay out of trouble this weekend.... If your kid is bored on Saturday, and you need to do some shopping, it's ideal. (Otherwise, probably not.) Vikings, little cities, Star Wars, and now finally, Escher's impossible constructions. Spot the one that isn't currently showing in Duna Plaza.

While British girls were screaming at the Beatles and the Stones, Hungarian girls were swaying to the Bergendy swing. (You may find them a little cheesey to say the least.) But, stay the course and you'll find it all chopped up by a string of sample-tastic DJs, from the School of Tilos, including Shuriken, Kanada Kaosz, Suhaid and Haze. Try to make sense of it all with the help of the Guardian.
