07/04/08

The past is yesterday. Today is the preview of tomorrow but for me, only for my better and happier point of view. My point of view is the thought of a better or try. Reality is today of eternity.

Monday Night Jazz (Concert)

MUPA, 7th April
, 19:30
700 - 2200ft
Komo
r Marcell u. 1 [map] [info]
Pest South, IX Millenniumi Kulturális Központ (T2) 3 m
in

Competitively-priced, percussion-heavy jazz at MUPA, a concert which apparently, has 'great surprises in store'. There's certainly a lot of people involved, among them Tommy Vig, vibraphone player Béla Zsoldos, and the odd-sounding Free Style String Quartet. [details]

Those Three (Film)

Örökmozgó, 20:30, 7th April
Erzsébet krt. 39 [map]
Pest Centre, VII, Király utca (T4/6),3 min
Three soldiers lose their bearings in a desolate Iranian snowscape. Chilling, visually striking, and at 77 minutes, really rather short, Those Three won the Asian cinema award at the 2007 Locarno film festival.

In the Valley of Elah (Film)

Uránia, 7th April, 20:00

Paul Haggis' new film has a spectacularly awful poster and Crash was outrageously contrived guff. Bad omens, you might expect, but by all accounts Elah is a powerful film, which isn't afraid of irritating the current US administration. Tommy Lee Jones plays a father investigating his son's disappearance at a military base. Review here.

Szilvási Gipsy Folk Band (Concert)

Corvintető, 7th April, 600 ft
Corvin Áruház, Blaha Lujza tér 1-2 [map]
Pest Centre, VIII, Blaha Lujza tér (M2, T4/6), 1 min

With their Oláh gipsy/latin/balkan combination, these guys are undeniably fun - just check out "My dog's leg hurts" for proof. The last album was called "Folklore beats you up" but don't fight it, feel it.
