22/04/08

If you put 'Gloomy Tuesday' into Google, you come up with a website called 'the hub'. But that isn't because I've just written the words 'Gloomy Tuesday' and because we're a website - it's a completely unrelated thing about Boston. Spooky!

Vantage Point (Film)

Palace Westend, 11:45, 13:45, 15:45,
18:00, 20:00, 22:15 all week

[map]
Pest, XIII, (M3, T4/6), 2 min

The president's been shot! Unless we see the attempted assassination from 8 different vantage points, we'll never find out who's responsible! And the film will only be 11 minutes long! Gimmicky rubbish, or a brave experiment in genre film making? Well, it's a quiet Tuesday, and finding out is one way to pass the time....

XXVI. Press Photos Competition (Exhibition)

Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum, Until 1st May
Múzeum krt. 14-16, [map]
Pest, VIII, Kálvin tér (M3) / Astoria (M2), 3 min
Tel. 338-2122, 327-7749

The National Museum captures last year with exhibits from the 2007 press photos competition. Whether it's Orbán pulling down the metal fences surrounding the parliament or the ridiculous marches of the Magyar Garda, it's an interesting portrait of a country.

Every picture of Tommy Emmanuel seems to show him holding tightly onto his guitar, while pulling a silly face. DadBlues/Dadrock/Dadfolk from a man who has worked with Les Paul, Eric Clapton and Chet Atkins. Take your Dad!

Berkó Együttes (Concert)

Pótkulcs, from 21:00, 22nd April, free
Csengery u. 65/b [map]
Pest, VI, Nyugati pu (T 4,6, M3), 5 min

Hard-to-find Pótkulcs hosts Berkó Együttes, who breathe more life into traditional folk music than you might think possible. When Balint, the cimbalom player takes the lead, the crowd goes wild!
