30/04/08

Celebrate the anniversary of Adolf Hitler's suicide today. What do you mean "Who's Adolf Hitler?" Well, usually at this point, I would quip about the Hungarian-ness of our weekly celebrity birth or death, but today, I shall refrain, for obvious reasons.

If Hitler were alive toda
y, he'd be unlikely to turn up at one of the following...

Nádler István / Fluxus East (Exhibitions)

LUMÚ, until 1st June

Komor Marcell u. 1 [map]
Pest, IX, Boraros tér (T 4,6), 8 min
Tel. 555-3444

After a long spell playing with black, white and blue, Nádler István has turned back to colour in a big way and it's these recent works, with strong vertical gestures that dominate the imaginatively-titled exhibition, "...vertical..." Meanwhile, on the same ticket, you can assess the Fluxus capacity of the old eastern bloc.

Not been to a 'beer-fueled 4-man alt.country/indie folk/acoustic mashup' for a while? Well, tonight might be the night... The Last Drops will be doing exactly in the bowels of Fészek.

Rewind (Club)

Corvintető, 30th April
Corvin Áruház, Blaha Lujza tér 1-2 [map]
Pest Centre, VIII, Blaha Lujza tér (M2, T4/6), 1 min

DJ Palotai and friends will be mixing up the medicine as per usual. Squint carefully at the photo or check out his website to work out if it's your kind of thing. But beware, it may be cool but it's not for cats.

5 Years of A38 (Concert)

A38, 30th April, free
Petőfi hid [map]
Buda, XI, Petőfi híd (Budai hídfő) (T4/6), 2 min

Well, this looks like quite a big event but, be warned that if you don't already have a ticket for the main hall, then the chances of getting in to see Austrian acts, Madita or Dzihan & Kamie are minimal. However, the terraces will be open, and you don't need a ticket for that, where Singas Project will be melting their soulful-jazzy grooves from nine. Let's hope it doesn't rain.

Champions League: Liverpool vs. Chelsea (Football)

M1, 30th April, kick-off: 20:45

The semi-final second leg starts one-a-piece, making Liverpool slight underdogs. But Liverpool's record against Chelsea in Champions' League semi-finals isn't bad, with two wins out of two. Will John Arne Riise rue that silly own goal? Will Didier Drogba become Chelsea's all-time European top scorer? Will Steven Gerrard forget to do his shoelaces up? Find out... tonight!
