12/08/08

Well, Sziget's the big draw this week but it's not the be-all-and-end-all. Not tonight, anyway.

Sziget Festival - Iron Maiden and others

12th August, from 14:00

Óbudai Island
[map]

"I've got two tickets to Iron Maiden baby; Come with me Tuesday - don't say maybe..." which begs the question "Just what is a day zero anyway?"
Maiden bassist/songwriter Steve Harris' daughter warms up at 19:45 before the
metal and spandex pantomime begins. But if it all gets a bit much, try smooth French hip-hoppers, Hocus Pocus instead.

Balkan Táncház (Trad. Dancing)
Petőfi Csarnok, 12th August, 19.00
T'Rakija sounds a lot like a windpipe and they do indeed play a pipe or two (the bagpipe and the shepherd's pipe, to be specific.) Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia and Serbia fuse together in a Balkan folk orgy.

Yagmur (Concert)
Gozsdu Terasz, 12th August, 20.30
Are you watching Miss Marple? No, I'm listening to Yagmur's folky violin-piano jazz. A little earnest to some, others will praise Nyikes Laura's voice as heavenly. There are two ways to find out: myspace here or live at Király utca 13.
