16/08/08

Saturday, it's a Saturday; Saturday, it's a Saturday; Saturday, Saturday; Saturday, it's a Saturday-ee-ay, ee-ay ee-ay-ee-ay-ee-ay-ee-ay.....

It's Saturday. (Looks funny when you write it a lot.)

Summer on the Chain Bridge (Festival)

Lánchíd 16th and 17th August, free, from 18.00
Pest, XIV, Széchenyi Fürdő, (M1) 5 min
The last day of the Chain Bridge summer festival so therefore, the last dose of magic from the Chain Bridge summer festival's website. Here's some more rubbish, this time about folk music ... 'I experience the old melodies again, letting them flow through an inner filter in my soul, and then capturing the new musical ideas that are nevertheless in harmony with the old descriptions.'

More coherent than usual, but still. Having said that, there's a strong line-up - it'll be a good day out. Check the bill out here.

Take a chance on...

Sziget Festival - R.E.M and others (Concert)

Obudai Island, 16th August, from 14.00
Shiny, happy, irritating American band top the bill. Of course, you could always give them a miss and check out Goran Bregovic, or the National Water Puppet Theatre of Vietnam. (!)

Peg Top Boogie (Club)
West Balkan, 16th August, from 21.30

Not much else to choose from, but the punsters at West Balkan are throwing a party for those too broke/tired/hungover/lazy to hit up Sziget.
