09/10/08

The weekend in Budapest starts on a Thursday and ends on a Wednesday. So for the first day of the weekend, you'd better find yourself something to do...

Hungarian-Csángó Táncház (Folk dance)

Fono, 9th October, 20:00
Sztregova utca

Kalotaszeg u.

Moldavians should explore their roots tonight at the
Csángó táncház. But don't worry, if you're not Moldavian just try to look like you could be Hungarian or maybe Romanian, have a few drinks, enjoy the music, leap around a bit and no one will ever know.

Take a chance on...

Paniks, Csik Zenekar (Concert)

Gödör
, 9th October, 21:00
If Fono looks a long way off, there's always Deak. Folk and traditional music from Serbia's Paniks, with Csik Zenekar backing them up.

Knotty Headz (Concert perhaps)
A38, 9th October, 21:00
Confusion abounds! It should have been Elephant Man at a38 tonight, but that's cancelled, so last night's show looks to have been moved to tonight. Although, only according to est.hu, and not the boat's official site. I'm confuse! Probably worth double checking this before heading out.

Indie Pop (Club)

Filter, 9th October, from 22:30, free

It's not particularly Hungarian, but you can indulge in indie sounds in a very-Budapest lamp-lit basement. If it doesn't end with I Am The Resurrection it isn't an indie night. Tell the DJ!
