15/10/08

Today's the day that Winnie The Pooh would call 'Winds-day', others might call it 'hump day'. Regardless of the moniker you attach to it, it's the middle of the week and it's Wednesday, go have some fun.

Control (Film)

Toldi, 15th October, 16:00, 18:45, 20:15, 22:15
Bajcsy-Zsilinszky ut, 36-38 [map]
Pest, V, Arany János u(M3), 2 min

Joy Division singer, Ian Curtis, tragically ended his life at the age of 23, just as the band was on the brink of worldwide popularity. Control is an excellent biopic depicting Curtis' trouble in coping with success, family, and love up until the time of his death. Even if you couldn't care less about Ian, Joy Division, or the whole bit, there are some truly astounding shots in this film and should be interesting enough for any fan of underground music or a good (and true) storyline. Trailer here.

Living Colour (Concert), A38, 15th October, 20:00, 5000ft
It might be a bit pricey to see these New York City fusion metal heads reunite, all washed up on the shores of the Danube, but if you're a true fan of of socially conscious African American funk metal, this might be your only chance to feed your fix for a while.

Side Four (Concert), Trafó, 15th October, 20:00, 4000ft
The Autumn Festival has some experimental jazz/progressive rock to throw into the mix. Adrian Belew of King Crimson, Frank Zappa, and David Bowie fame will be shredding up the stage at Trafó.

Colorful Hemispheres (Art Opening), Nessim Gallery, 15th October, 18:00.
Go have a free (probably) glass of wine and check and some Central European photographers. Don't forget your turtleneck sweater and to raise your pinkie!
