Gadó Gábor Quartet (Concert)

Sirály, 21:00, 11th November
Király utca 50 [map]
Pest Centre, VI, Király utca (T4/6), 5 min
Jazz guitarist Gadó Gábor is rather better known in France than here and was awarded the Bobby Jaspar Prize by The French Academie du Jazz in 2003. He's as prolific as they come, featuring on 19 albums in the last 19 years. Comparable with John Scofield? Decide for yourself here. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have a website or myspace! Profile here though.

Or how about...?

Szilvási Gipsy Folk Band (Concert)
Cökxpôn, 11th November, free
With their Oláh gipsy/latin/balkan combination, these guys are undeniably fun - just check out "My dog's leg hurts" for proof. The last album was called "Folklore beats you up" but don't fight it, feel it.

Irie Maffia Soundsystem (Club)
Corvintető, 21:00, 11th November, , 300Ft
Well,
Barabás Lorinc and Dagadu Sena have little to do with tonight's proceedings but Columbo, Juno and Dermot are in the house behind the decks. Myspace here: Irie Maffia.

Rekontra
(Concert)
Pótkulcs [map], 21:00, 11th November, free
As ever, hard-to-find
Pótkulcs hosts Rekontra, who breathe more life into traditional Hungarian folk music than you might think possible. Listen here.
