Either turn your music up very loud and invite your friends to bring some torches into the bathroom, or head down to Rudas for the large-scale version, with DJs, lights, the whole pool party shebang. This holiday Cinetrip is billed as the "Glow Ball." As always, don't forget your towel and "slippers are a must." What with a "Whale Strip Show" room and all you should be making little flying Hungarian baby Jesus proud before he swoops in your window to bestow presents upon you Christmas morning.
Details here.
Take a chance on...
GRUM (Concert)
Trafo Bar Tango, 20th December, 1000Ft.
From the outskirts of Europe, better known as the United Kingdom, "hot electro producer and DJ" GRUM hits up Budapest before taking off for mainland Europe, as if to say Budapest isn't in mainland Europe and we should be happy he's stopping here. The night, presented by the well known DJ collective, KUNK, also sees sets by We Plants Are Happy Plants, Kittern Killers (Gumipop), and Brandon & Cigi of KUNK.
Budapest Christmas Fair
Vörösmarty tér [map], ongoing, 10:00-20:00, free
Christmas looms just 5 days away. Not in the mood just yet? Well, what are you waiting for? Go, fill up on lángos and sausages the size of your arm, grab a forralt bor (mulled wine), and smell the scents of Christmas. It's the perfect chance to get your last minute x-mas shopping done in one fell swoop. Take a waltz around the Christmas tree and listen for the bells.
X-mass (concert)
Filter Club, 20th December, 19:00, 1000Ft.
Subtitle: "Hardcore Superbrowl for Santa II." Yes, I'm not sure what a "Browl" is either, perhaps they meant brawl? Hungary's got a hardcore scene that harkens back to the 80s Youth Crew days in America, so if you haven't been two-steppin' with Xs on your hands in far too long and your Bad Brains hoody's been in the back of your closet, then tonight is something of an occasion. Tongiht's bill includes Hungarian based bands: Think Again, Hold X True, and Motivation, among others.
