It's the first day of 2009 and chances are you're in bed nursing one mean hangover. Let us here at the hub be the 24th to wish you HAPPY NEW YEAR! If you can manage to drag yourself out of the house, contemplate your cloudy-head new year's resolutions while checking out one of these...

Peter Ogi (Concert)

Gödör,1st January, 20:00, 2500Ft

Founder of Hungary's first punk band and producer of many 80s bands, Peter Ogi is a longstanding staple in the Hungarian music record book. "From Zappa to Eno" Ogi's got a lot of tricks up his sleeve, which is to be expected with so many years in the biz. Also on the bill are Quimby and Másik János.

Also worth checking out...

Cinetrip (Pool Party)
Rudas Baths, 1st January, 21:00, 5000Ft (available in advance from Merlin), 6000Ft (limited quanities at the door)
Either turn your music up very loud and invite your friends to bring some torches into the bathroom, or head down to Rudas for the large-scale version. Where in some countries they do the polar bear swim on the first day of the year, you could do the same in a nice warm bath. This might just be the best way to cure your hangover, either that or keep it going. Don't forget your towel and flip-flops. Details here.

London Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir (Concert)
MUPA, 1st January, 19:00, 4000-9900Ft.
Why not start the year off by checking out one of the world's most renowned orchestras? Well the price for one thing, but they'll be performing an oratoria that celebrates the "miracle of creation." How fitting for the new year? Info here.
