The weekend in Budapest starts on a Thursday and ends on a Wednesday. So for the first day of the weekend, you'd better find yourself something to do...

Titanic Film Festival

Uránia, Toldi, Kino, Örökmozgó, 890Ft
26th March

The oddly-titled Titanic Film Festival opens tonight without any icebergs! (Shoot the editor.) 4 cinemas host a boat-load of off-beat films every night, and they're in English too. "Child by Children", Uránia, 20:15, looks at children's ingenuity, compared with our twisted adult thinking.

Get with the programme here.

Surprise (Surprise)
Lámpás, 21:00, free
Lámpás has finally reopened after a lengthy hiatus, and it's bigger too! Tonight's surprise, or szörprájz, in clumsy Hungarian, is exactly that. But at 350Ft a pint, you're onto a winner whatever it is, unless it's this.

Balkanethick (Concert)
Pótkulcs, 21:00, free
When it comes to music, Balkanethick have a... Balkan ethic. Ah-ha, enlightening editorial as usual! Why don't you just listen for yourself, here.

Art Party (Concert)
A38, 21:00, free
To celebrate the opening of the "Mi Vida – From Heaven To Hell" exhibition, A38 hosts "A huge art party with artists..." Luckily they've invited some DJs too. Scant detail here.
