21/05/09

The weekend in Budapest starts on a Thursday and ends on a Wednesday. So for the first day of the weekend, you'd better find yourself something to do...

Good For Cows (Concert)

Probably the first band that comes to mind when you think avant-garde drum and bass is Lightning Bolt, and you'd be all the better for it. However, California's Good For Cows goes in a different direction: free jazz. It's especially welcome if you're a fan of D & B, but don't like all that yelling through a telephone receiver. This duo shows a strong sense of how you can break the rules with classical instruments. As it looks, percussionist Ches Smith will be also doing Congs For Brums, a side project of sorts.

Also recommended...

Stylewalker Night (Fashion)
Various 5th District locations, 19:00-24:00
A night where the fashionable boutiques and design oriented shops open their doors for specials and later than usual window shopping. A party at Csendes follows. Event myspace here.

Annie Hall (Film)
Orokmozgo [map], 18:00
Widely know as Woody Allen's finest, along with Manhattan. A nice chance to see it in the cinema rather than your dinky computer screen, or if you're better off than I, a television.

Koala Fusion (Concert)
Jelen, 21:00, free
Fusing Koalas with jazz since '06. Myspace here.
