18/06/09

The weekend in Budapest starts on a Thursday and ends on a Wednesday. So for the first day of the weekend, you'd better find yourself something to do...

Zuboly (Concert)

Zöld Pardon, 18th June, from 20:00
Goldmann György tér 6 [map]
Buda, XI, Petőfi híd (Budai hídfő) (T4/6), 2 min

Zuboly is possibly the only band in the world to combine bagpipes with a human beat-box or two - and if you want to put them in a box, write "broken ethno" on it and everyone can go home happy. TheirSpace here.

Terasz 09 (Festival)
Városliget Ice-rink [map], 20:00, 2400-4300Ft
The outdoor "ice-rink" in Varosliget hosts an on-off festival that continues tonight with "30 years of 3 women and a writer". The women in question are Harcsa Veronika, Póka Angéla and Váczi Eszter, and the writer, as if you didn't know is jazz saxophonist, Dés Laszló. Good ole Dés! It's a bit pricey though. Festival website here.

Gumipop Test Party (Club)
Corvintető, from 21:00
What are they testing? Indie/electro dance DJs, of course. Summer is here and that means the rooftop will be even more pumpin' than usual. Gumipop pont hu here.

The Visitor (Film)
Művész [map], 21:15
"A character study drowning in liberal guilt", or "A beautiful, quiet, measured movie about the death of some American values since September 11". You decide.
