Night of Museums (Museums Night)

Various Museums, full list here
20th June, 1300Ft
You've seen the film, now live the dream. Tired of bars, clubs and concert venues? How about the museum instead?

For one night only, you can wander around the vast majority of Budapest's museums until two in the morning, and all for 1300Ft; 600Ft if you're a child; and free if you're under six! And you can buy beer. And there may well be a band playing!

Worried about getting stranded with other drunk six-year-olds out at the Ludwig? Never fear! Armed with your armband, special buses and BKV transport are free until 5am. Website here.

Also worth knowing about...

S&M Extreme Night (Party)
SMs Cafe [map], 22:00, 2000Ft or free, if you dress like a freak!
SMs cafe: where people send text messages or the first exclusive extreme café and restaurant in Budapest? What kind of person would go to an S&M "extreme night" without getting dressed up? A drunk person. Fetish and SM performances included. Rather you than me.

Kiende (Concert)
Treffort Kert (Outside Könyvtár Klub) [map], 18:00
Gentle acoustic folk music. Much closer to a Western idea of folk than the traditional Hungarian or Gypsy styles. Really quite lovely. Myspace here. Support from Blues Service Duo.

International Folk Festival
Tabán Múzeum, from 14:00 (part of the Night of Museums, 1300Ft)
There is a morning programme for kids, starting at 10:00 but the festival proper starts at 14:00, and includes stalwarts of the folk scene, Magyarpalatkai Banda and Bognár Szilvia, making the Tabán museum one of the more active museums in today's festival. Full line-up here.
