17/08/09

It's Monday... The weekend's over, Sziget has finished for another year and it's time to get back to work... but don't despair, there is still plenty of time for more summer fun and frolics...

Jack Cannon (Con

Szimpla Kert, 17th August, free, but beer now costs 550Ft!
Kazinczy utca 14 [map]
Pest Centre, VII, Astoria (M2), 5 min

The Jack Cannon band describe themselves as a blues band but are in fact play more of a traditional raw Rhythm 'n Blues sound. Don't be fooled by the name either. These guys are pure Hungarian and are actually quite good musicians!

Take a chance on...

Balkan Beats (Concert)
Gödör, 22:00, free
Always a good time, never quite the same, this month's Balkan headliners Terne Chave , from the Czech Republic, combine traditional Roma accordion and violin with the technology of samples and electric guitars. DJ Robert Soko from Berlin is back behind the decks and home grown Romano Drom are set to kick things off. This Eastern European mish-mash of musicians won't disappoint.

Indie Rehab Party (Club)
Dürer Kert, free
The perfect recipe for those still recovering from a week at Syiget. DJ Alabard is joined bz DJ AndOne to get you back on the straight and narrow.

Bruno (Film)
Művész
[map], 21:00
The formula: choose nationality; act like an arse; fool stupid people into thinking you're real. Some will think it's clever (teenagers); some will think it's social comment (critics); some will enjoy the crude gags (the public). Some will think it's total shite. Trailer here. Reviews here.
