Besh o droM (Concert)

18th August, 20:00
Kobuci Kert
Fő tér 1
[map]
Óbuda, III, Árpád híd (HÉV), 2 min

According to the band, they are not stuck in the Balkan category but that's exactly where most people would stick them. Besh o droM mix accoustic, electronic and traditional music from here, there and everywhere and somehow rather than sounding like a mess it works.

Website here. Myspa
ce here. Youtube here.

Or how about...?

Irie Maffia Soundsystem (Club)
Corvinteto 21:00, free
Columbo, Juno and Dermot are in the house, plying their DJ trade. Myspace here. If you don't fancy it, the roof's open now, so you can sit in the glorified carpark above the city until the sun comes up.

The Hangover (Film)
Palace MOM Park [map], 17:30
If Superbad was about a bachelor party in Vegas gone wrong, and starred middle-aged dudes instead of teens, and had a Mike Tyson guest spot, this would be Superbad. Trailers here and NY Times review here.

Balaton (Concert)
Gödör, 21:00, free
The moniker's pretty misleading. Balaton is nothing to do with partying at the lake. Forming in 1979
, Balaton were part of the first wave (ripple) of alternative bands in Hungary. Singer/songwriter Víg Mihály has also soundtracked several Béla Tarr films, cementing his place in the counterculture (what there is of it).
