02/11/09

Fifty years ago today, on this day in 1959, Hungarian-born academic, Charles Van Doren admitted to a committee of the US Congress that he had cheated on a television game show. Isn't it comforting to know that corruption scandals like that just don't happen these days, especially in Hungary...

Mystery Gang (Concert)

Morrison's 2, 2nd November, 8.30pm, Free
Szent István körút/Honvéd utca corner [map]
Pest, V, Nyugati (T4/6, M3), 3 min

These guys bill themselves as "Hungary's number one rockabilly band". There isn't a huge amount of competition for them so perhaps their particular brand of Hungarobilly music might actually appeal to you. Elsewhere in the smoky and sweaty labyrinth which makes up this particularly unpleasant venue, we are promised a funky party with DJ Markovich, a retro party with DJ Lu-yi and BanDJ plus a house and trance party with DJ Apesz. If all that fails to entice you, there's always karaoke. Let's face it, it's Monday and beggers can't be choosers...
