09/04/08

It's 230 years to the day since Captain Cook discovered Australia! Actually, it had been discovered several times before that, not least by the Hungarian king, Rudolph I. Rudolph sighted land in 1583 but, alas, only made the journey in his head.

Enough of that, here's today's events...

"Let the right one in... and when, at last, it does, I'd say you were within your rights to bite" Stockholm, 1982. A lonely 12-year old finds a solitary friend; but how deep does friendship run? If you're looking to fall in love with a film this Titanic Film Festival, it might just be this one.

Zagar are pretty much a progressive electro-indie band who do a fair bit of shoegazing.
Get a taste of snow here from their performance at Trafó last time out. Get to the front tonight and you might spot yourself on their forthcoming DVD.

The individual and the community: how do they relate? Lajos Csontó asks the questions with his slightly skewed photography. Skewed by symbols, words and white lines. All pieces are on sale too, so put a few extra forints in your wallet. Exhibition details here.

Cheap Cinema Night (Film)

Palace Cinemas, 9th April, 800ft

If you've seen the poster for 'Step Up 2 The Streets' and have noticed that the way they've written 'The Streets' is pretty similar to how 'The Streets' write 'The Streets', and you think they might be involved somehow, then finding out tonight will be cheaper than usual.
On the other hand, you could just take my word for it, that 'The Streets' have absolutely nothing to do with this, and go to see something entirely less mediocre instead.

Titanic Festival Party (Concert/Club)
Gödör, 9th April, 21:00, free

The singer of Joy Division covers band, Ězeknäk may sound more like the lead singer of The Bravery than Ian Curtis but you can judge for yourself, since the Joy Division documentary is also showing for free in Gödör tonight. Tordas radio's Vidatoni changes the mood a bit from midnight; I just hope he doesn't start with that really annoying track!
