Deep Purple fans will be heading to A38 tonight but if you're not your dad, there are plenty of (better) options...

Fatal Shore (Concert)

Corvintető, 22nd May
Corvin Áruház, Blaha Lujza tér 1-2 [map]
Pest Centre, VIII, Blaha Lujza tér (M2, T4/6), 1 min

There's more than a touch of Nick Cave about Australian/German collision, Fatal Shore. Bad Seed, Mick Harvey has had a lot to do with Bruno Adams over the years, producing his old band, Once Upon A Time, and covering a song on his last solo album. Since Old Nick and co. are in town this week, it's more than likely that they'll meet up for a drink. Sources suggest that this will take place in Mister Sorozo.

The Cinema Tour (Short Films / Concert / Visuals)

Toldi, 19:00, 22nd May
Bajcsy-Zsilinszky ut, 36-38 [map]
Pest, V, Arany János u(M3), 2 min

It's a bit bizarre that something called The Cinema Tour has no English information on it but check out the Hungarian website anyway, whose trailer should give you an idea of what you're in for. But to summarise: 5 short films, 3 concerts, 2 VJs and a DJ.

John McLaughlin (Concert)

Petőfi Csarnok, Városliget, 22nd May, 20:00
8000Ft advance, 9000Ft door

Pest, XIV, Széchenyi Fürdő, (M1) 5 min

Coming 49th in Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists of all time is something of a disservice to John McLaughlin, who is certainly better than Jack White! But then few Rolling Stone readers are likely to listen to fusion jazz. He played on Miles Davis' Bitches Brew among others, and you may note that one of the tracks bears his name. If that doesn't convince you to cough up 8000Ft, you could always go and sit on the hill nearby with a can of beer.

Cha Cha
Cha Terasz (Bar)

Opens 22nd May
Margitsziget, [map]
Between Buda and Pest, II, Margit hid (T4/6), 3 min
Tel. 70-554-0670

It's May 22nd. Summer is here; or at least the kerts seem to think so. Cha cha cha is the island's second offering of the year. Smaller and more like dancing outside an athletics centre than the spacious, orange holiday camp that is Holdudvar. We're just waiting for Sark to complete the set.

Andreas Fogarasi's video installations and sculptures look at culture, what we think it is exactly, and how this point of view changes as the socio-political world spins round. Watch the box.
