Young Widows (Concert)
Dürer Kert, 12th February, from 20:00, 1500Ft
Ajtósi Dürer sor 19–21 [map]
Zichy Geza utca, (Trolley 74)
When rock bands come to Budapest, they're either way past their prime (i.e. Vince Neil Band 100% Mötley Crüe) or some horrid screamo/metal/what? band. Not the case this time folks. I give you Young Widows.
Hailing from the mid-western state of Kentucky and certainly no strangers to the road, (they're on tour almost straight through til April) Young Widows have made more than just a riff in the contemporary underground. While taking pages from both the books of their predecessors like The Jesus Lizard, and their current compatriots such as These Arms Are Snakes and The Melvins, they've managed to keep things new and exciting. Also on the bill for the night are Austria's Plague Mass and Budapest's own Chief Rebel Angel.

Also worth checking out...
Pestiesti Remix Cuvée (Theatre)
Trafó, 12th February, 20:00, 2500/1900Ft
A faux fashion show by costume designers in an attempt to answer the age-old question of "how do we exist in this world?" Reactionary to say the least, this is sure to be a fashion "fuck you" to what the traditional runway has to offer. More info here.
Dragonforce (Concert)
Club Diesel, 12th February, 20:00, 5800Ft
Metalheads are off their rockers. Sure a broad statement, but to pay almost 6000 forint to see for a band known for their epic power metal 12-minute ballads is evidence enough. There's something way better than these guys, it's called Iron Maiden. Joining them on the "Ultra Beatdown World Tour" is Turisas from Finland. Dragonforce's MySpace here. And hey, if you can't afford the ticket and actually like real rock music, see Young Widows above.
Changeling (Film)
Művész, 12th February, 16:15, 19:00, 21:30
In what seems more fit of a storyline for a Lifetime movie, Angelina Jolie steps outside her usual voluptuous role to play a woman who got the wrong son back, and wants revenge against the LAPD. Nominated for 3 Oscars and directed by Clint Eastwood. Trailer here and reviews here.
