19/12/09

On this day in 1967, Australian Prime Minister, Harold Holt, was officially declared "presumed dead" after going for a swim in the sea at Cheviot Beach in Victoria and never returning. Rumour has it that Harold actually decided to leave Australia and seek a new life in Budapest with his secret Hungarian girlfriend. Zagar (Concert)
Corvintető, 19th December, 21:00
Corvin Áruház, Blaha Lujza tér 1-2 [map]
Pest Centre, VIII, Blaha Lujza tér (M2, T4/6)
, 1 min

Zagar are a progressive indie-electronica band who have been around for a dew years now gradually building a decent reputation for innovative, well produced music with an original sound. Tonight is the launch party for their new album. So expect a decent set. Sharing a busy stage tonight will be We Plants are Happy Plants and Germany's Eriq Johnson.

Also worth a checking out...

Frenk (Concert)
Hunnia [map], 21:00, free
Wonderfully weirdly-named weird band Frenk won't dent your pockets but might abuse your ears. Robocop-style website here. Video here.

Ganxsta Zolee és a Kartel (Concert)
Alcatraz, 21:00, free
Straight outta... the department store. If Ganxsta Zolee is a gangsta, I've misunderstood the concept entirely. He's kind of cuddly with his Kartel. East side - West side... he must be talking about the Danube... or maybe his preferred railway stations. Still, good for a laugh, perhaps.

Elise (Concert)
Delirium Music Pub, 20:00, 500 ft
A touch of old-fashioned grunge rock from the all-male band with a girl's name. The style is not exactly cutting edge but the music is largely original and well performed. Listen on MySpace here. Support comes from soft-rock cover-band Snatch.
